More Magico Excellence: The New S1

California-based speaker manufacturer Magico has been knocking the ball out of the park the last few years with their Q-Series line of speakers.  Everything from the stand-mounted Q1 at $26,500 to the top-of-the-line Q7 flagship at a cool $165,000 has been getting rave reviews from audio journalists the world over.

Alon Wolf and the folks at Magico are now entering more accessible territory with the new S1 floor-standing, two-way loudspeaker.  Standing 43ā€ tall and weighing a not so svelte 95 pounds, each speaker features one of Magicoā€™s wonderful beryllium tweeters along with a newly designed 7ā€ Nano-TecĀ® Midbass driver.  The cabinet is a 3/8ā€ extruded aluminum enclosure, which Magico says minimizes ā€œdiffraction effects, internal resonance, and damping requirementsā€.  Frequency response is rated at an impressive 32 Hz ā€“ 50 kHz.

The spouse acceptance factor should also be high as the S1 will blend in with virtually any environment, as it is available in a wide array of paint finishes.

The Magico S1 will retail at $12,600/pair and be available in Q4 this year.
