World's Most Expensive Thanksgiving Dinner...?
I can’t guarantee it is the most expensive, but…
I love Turkey Day, and I love the food that goes with. So, what to do if you want to go all out? To travel that extra culinary mile...?
Let’s take a trip to Manhattan, specifically the Meatpacking
District and a fixture in the local restaurant scene known as the Old Homestead
Steakhouse.
With outposts in Atlantic City and Sin City, the restaurant
has been serving Thanksgiving dinner at this location since… oh… would you
believe 1868? How does $1.50 sound?
Not today…
The 2016 tag has hit a new high for the revered steakhouse
at a whopping $50,000...!
Whoa…!
Now that you have picked yourself up off the virtual floor,
let me answer the question that is just plain killing you right now. What do you get for the money…?
In this case, it is not all about the food, but let me start
there, cause you gotta eat on Thanksgiving!
The centerpiece for this meal for eight is a 20-lb.
free-range, organically raised turkey.
Let’s tack on some sourdough stuffing with imported Japanese Wagyu beef
and foie gras, and some mashed spuds with Stilton cheese. Top all that with turkey gravy infused with
some big-buck bourbon. On the side, you
get some green beans w/ham and finally the meal is finished with pumpkin ice cream and
a rum-infused eggnog sauce. The rum in
the sauce happened to ring up at $4200 / bottle...! All of the above ingredients are equally
account denting.
And now for the non-food portion of the program…
·
VIP seating at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day
Parade
·
A shopping spree at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf
Goodman and Henri Bendel
·
50-yard line tickets to a NY Giants game
·
A horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park
·
One night accommodation at the Waldorf-Astoria
·
A guided tour of New York
·
Use of a stretch-limousine to transport guests
between activities
There you have it… Quite possibly the ultimate way to spend
your Turkey Day! Safe to say you can give thanks for this one!
Cheers…
